The Saturday event was marked by a significant event
brochure, a Discussion Forum attended by the chief guest and other distinguished guests,
speeches, exhibits, recognitions, children's picture drawing and poetry
recitation contest, stalls of
Bangladeshi food and nativities and cultural programs with melodious songs,
drama and colorful dances, etc. The event took place in three distinct parts;
Inaugural Program:
The programs was preceded by an inaugural ceremony by hoisting US, Bangladesh
and BUFLA flags by Sheriff Lee Baca, Bangladesh Hon. Consul General Abu Zafar
and Dr. M. A. Hashem followed by recitation from Al-Qur'an in Arabic, English and in Bangla. US
And Bangladeshi National anthems ensued immediately after the Qur'an recitation.
One beautiful dance was offered by members of Uttoron Los Angeles. Dr. M. A.
Hashem,
President of BUFLA gave welcome address to the dignitaries and the audience.
Flowers offered by children to the dignitaries. The Los Angeles City Sheriff Lee
Baca offered his speech to the audience. The Los
Angeles City Sheriff Lee Baca also officially announced Bangladesh Day which now
became a tradition. Consul Generals from several countries has been in the parade
along with many other dignitaries including senior elected
officials of the City of Los Angeles and suburban cities, business executives and other
distinguished citizens presented their speeches to the audience. Many of the
Senators and members of the US Congress and California State Assembly has not
been able to join the parade because of congress first session taken place in
Washington DC.
Seminar (Discussion Forum):
This program has been re-named as a 'Discussion Forum' participated by 14
distinguished Bangladeshi-American personalities. This
part of the event was conducted by Ismail Hossain and run in parallel with the children's
program.
Children's Picture drawing and Poetry
recitation contest: This
part of the event was conducted by Monowar Hossain Bhaia. An unforeseen number
of children took part in this program with their beautiful picture drawing and
their poetry recitations.
Saturdays Cultural Program: The
cultural program was scripted by Dr. Shah Alam of Jalshaghar Entertainment with close assistance by
Khaleed Hossain of Jalshaghar Entertainment. Unlike any other
cultural programs that took place in the past in and around Los Angeles, the
Bangladesh Day has offered a unique cultural show staged by the BUFLA Cultural
Team formed by artists from 4 major cultural
organizations. The BUFLA Cultural Team worked relentlessly to stage cultural
programs of Saturday and Sunday as an excellent piece of presentation.
This program drew a striking number of
audiences. Emad Chishti and Jyoti
Prakash provided Tabla assistance to the Saturday Cultural show.

Parade:
This has been the most colorful parade with the participation of highest number
of Bangladeshi-American community members, the residents of Los Angeles city has
ever seen. The parade started at 3:00 PM on Vermont Avenue between
3rd Street and 6th Street. A very colorful parade participated by more than
1,500 people. The parade moved towards south on Vermont Avenue until 6th Street
where it turned to left on 6th Street and then turned left on Shatto Pl. from
6th Street. It ended at the intersection of Shatto Place and w. 4th Street near Shatto
Recreation Center 5:00 PM. This has been 3rd Parade in Los Angeles to celebrate the
Bangladesh Day with joy, pride, and resounding glory. The city block
involving Vermont Ave, Shatto Place, 6th Street and W. 4th street was crowded by people from Bangladeshi-American
community and watching the colorful parade waving Bangladeshi and American flags
in their hands. There was a carnival ride arranged that amused the children came
to the event. Shykh Seraj has opened the parade in presence of other
dignitaries. At least 17 organizations from Bangladeshi-American community participated in the
parade with their beautiful banners.
Speech: This
part started with recitation from Al-Qur'an in Arabic, English and in Bangla. US
And Bangladeshi National anthems ensued immediately after the Qur'an recitation.
One beautiful group choreography 'Tin Shure Gantha" was offered by members of
Uttoron Los Angeles. Renowned dancer Shaon Mustafa has organized the
choreography. The Dr. Mahbub Khan,
Chief Coordinator of BUFLA gave welcome address to the dignitaries and the
audience. Flowers offered by children to the dignitaries. The Los Angeles City
Sheriff Lee Baca offered his speech to the audience. The LA city Mayors office presented a LA City
office plaque to Dr. Hashem, BUFLA's President. The Los

Khaleed Hossain of Jalshaghar Entertainment. Unlike any other

Bangladesh Day has offered a unique cultural show staged by the BUFLA Cultural
Team formed by artists from 4 major cultural
organizations. The BUFLA Cultural Team worked relentlessly to stage cultural
programs of Saturday and Sunday as an excellent piece of presentation.
In addition to the organizations individual
artists also performed in the Saturdays Cultural show.
This program drew a striking number of
audiences. Famous Bangladeshi singers Kumar Bishwajit and Samina offered their
songs. Emad Chishti and Jyoti
Prakash provided Tabla assistance to the Sunday Cultural show.
PA system was provided by Cosmos Sound & Stage
and worked fair with some malfunction.
